Ruto’s allies hold prayer for convicted graft prisoner John Waluke

The controversial tanga tanga wing seems to be picking itself up after a series of fumigation exercises targetted at towing rebel Jubilee soldiers back in line.

On Sunday, a section of members of parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto gathered at the home of a convicted ‘criminal’ Sirisia MP John Waluke, to offer their prayers.

The move culminated in a special appeal by Hon. Waluke to any Kenyan wishing to contribute to his freedom. Waluke was slapped with a fine exceeding 1 Billion, in a closely watched corruption case involving a 2004 maize scandal.

Waluke, who was a strong force within DP Ruto’s ranks, and was seen milling around the 2022 presidential hopeful months before his ‘file was located’.

MPs allied to the tangatanga faction, condemned the court proceedings, fouling the Judiciary for unlawful sentencing. They argued that the matter was commercial and would have been dealt with as commercial malpractice, as opposed to a criminal offence.

However, the leaders turned up in large numbers to support Waluke, vowing to contribute to offset his billion shilling fine.

But lurking at the banking halls, is the Director of Public Prosecutions, Noordin Haji.

While appearing on a TV interview, Dr. Haji reaffirmed that Waluke’s case was a big win for investigative authorities.

When he was asked whether there were any deposits made to free Waluke, the firm DPP confirmed that no amount was paid to secure his freedom and if there will be, “We will investigate the source of this money, and ensure that ill-gotten wealth will not be used to free a convicted criminal”.

Among the many who showed up for the special prayer service, was one contestant for Kakamega governor’s seat, Boni Khalwale.

Boni led the troop to Waluke’s home with a special message to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“We are humbly requesting the President as the Jubilee leader to pardon his Bungoma County Jubilee chairman Waluke and come to his aide just the way he forgave Raila Odinga when he swore himself as the ‘president’ at Uhuru Park,” the leaders said.

The leaders invoked 2017 elections when Waluke took on the NASA storm that was sweeping across the western region, and the leaders want Uhuru to pardon him for his vigor in taming Raila’s army in the West.

“We want our President to remember what Waluke did for Uhuru’s presidential victory in the last poll when he vigorously took on NASA team as a Jubilee county chairman without any fear,” he said.

In conclusion, the leaders vowed not to back down on their support for the deputy president, despite the unusual shake-ups in the Jubilee party.

While addressing the leaders at his Sugoi home, Deputy President William Ruto urged his faction to take the shake-up with humility, urging those opposing them to practice fairness and peace.

“With the changes in Parliamentary leadership including committee membership & leadership now concluded, I urge all MPs NOT to be divided but work TOGETHER in serving the PEOPLE.,” he said.
