Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege has been summoned by the IEBC’s Electoral Code of Conduct Enforcement Committee to explain her comments on the 2017 election results.
“YOU ARE HEREBY REQUIRED to attend the Offices of the Commission at Anniversary Towers 6th floor on the 15th day of February 2022 at 9 .00 o’clock in the forenoon for examination by the Electoral Code of Conduct.”
The statements were given on February 10, 2022, at a public demonstration in Isibuye, Vihiga County, during the Azimio la Umoja Movement mobilization event.
She will appear before the commission’s electoral code of conduct enforcement committee on Tuesday for questioning, according to a statement released on Friday.
Deputy President William Ruto condemned the remark, urging on leaders ‘without an agenda’ to desist from dividing Kenyans.
“Those who want to plan the politics of our country are the same people who have taken captive our economy and country. We want every Kenyan to be allowed to decide the destiny of our nation by himself not by individuals in hotels and boardrooms,” said Ruto.
ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi echoes his sentiments, saying the Azimio movement is showing motive to steal an election.
“If you been talking about uniting the country, you in Azimio should be the last to talk about stealing elections. This is a bad statement being sold to Kenyans, and we shall not allow the polls to be stolen. Azimio La Umoja has now become Azimio La Wizi,” he added.
