Kilifi Deputy Governor Gideon Saburi has said that his road to be the next Governor after the exit of his boss, Amason Kingi is unstoppable. – By Ramadhan Kambi.
But Mr Saburi an engineer by profession said he is yet to decide on which party to use between the expected Coast party which is going to be unveiled soon and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) he has been a member for years.
Addressing reporters in Watamu where he accompanied French Ambassador to Kenya Ms Aline Kuster-Menager, Eng Saburi said he was all set for the race but said until when the issue of the Coast based political party is done with, he will still in ODM at the moment.
“What I can assure you is that I will be in the race to succeed Kingi come rain or sunshine. But again, were elected in an ODM ticket. So, because there are some new developments pertaining the new Coastal Party, let me leave that to those currently working on those plans. We shall make decision on which party to use after the Coast party is unveiled. But I am in ODM,” the DG said.
Kilifi is expecting a bruising battle for the top seat after the exit of governor Amason Kingi. Seven people including the governor’s younger brother and Magarini MP Michael Kingi are seeking to succeed Mr Kingi.
Others in the race are Baha Nguma, Dzombo Mbaru, Aisha Jumwa (Malindi MP), Dan Kazungu (Kenyan Ambassadro to Tanzania), Jimmy Kahindi(Assembly Speaker) and ASAL CAS Gideon Mungaro.
