Sakaja: Kanjos Will Be Trained on Human Resource, Customer Service

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has assured small-scale traders in Nairobi of his commitment to creating a favourable working environment in the CBD.

Speaking during a church service at Jesus Winner Ministry on Sunday, the governor noted that County council askaris alias Kanjos have for a long time been harassing traders within Nairobi, and that his administration is working on bringing the vice to an end.

“For a long time Kanjos (County council askaris) were used to chasing people. I am slowly training them on Human resource and customer service. They should know these (traders) are our bosses. No need to harass them yet they appointed us,” he said.

Sakaja added that he will not allow any disruption of peace and order in Nairobi, which is home to millions of residents and businesses.

“Everything has its own time. Kenyans are tired of politics; voting was already done, and the winner is in place,” Sakaja said.

“I will not allow anybody’s property, business, or life in Nairobi to be destroyed. Many people are going through difficult times, and we cannot allow that to worsen,” he added.

Sakaja, who was elected as governor on a UDA party ticket, urged the opposition to engage in dialogue instead of confrontation.

“All of this cannot be accomplished through chest-thumping; even the Bible says, ‘Let us come together and reason,’ though this does not imply a handshake,” he said.
