Samburu Elephant Births Twin Calves

An elephant in a reserve in Samburu has given birth to twin calves, which is an extremely rare occurrence.

The last time it happened was in 2006.

According to Save the Elephants, a group dedicated to preserving elephants’ survival, Bora from the Winds family gave birth to a male and a female calf over the weekend.

“At roughly a day old, the pair (male and female) are investigating their environment. This type of twin birth is extremely uncommon – in fact, we haven’t seen twins in the park in decades! ” In a strange photo, the organization captioned a photo of the calves close to their mother.
