Two weapons were delivered to the Wamba Police Station: an AK-47 with two rounds of ammo and a carbine rifle with no rounds.
Following the NGAO sensitization Baraza, the two illicit firearms were voluntarily turned over by members of the public.
Later on, at the Tuum Anti Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) Camp in Samburu County, the local authorities gave one AK-47 gun and an empty magazine to NPS officers.
“The rifle had been voluntarily surrendered to the Area Chief by a resident in compliance with the amnesty issued by the government,” said the National Police Service.
“We urge members of the public to surrender all illegal firearms in support of our endeavour to restore peace and security in the Country,” NPS added.
