The Senate will begin a five-day induction retreat in Naivasha on Wednesday.
This is the first time the Senators will meet since their inauguration on September 9.
The 68 lawmakers elected former Kilifi governor Amason Kingi as the third Speaker of the Senate, who will be deputised by Meru Senator Murungi Kathuri, all of whom are members of the Kenya Kwanza coalition party.
However, a section of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Senators walked out just before the vote began, effectively boycotting the vote.
The Speaker will officially kick off the conference, which has the theme “Understanding the Senate’s Mandate and Strengthening Devolution Through Legislative Agenda.”
Senators will be briefed on the legislative agenda, the relationship with constitutional commissions and independent offices, and national security issues.
A plenary discussion on media relations and public awareness will also take place, moderated by former journalist and Kitui county senator Enoch Wambua.
The presenters will be Kenya Editors Guild President Churchill Otieno and media consultant Mark Kaigwa.
