Narok Senator Ledama ole Kina has been elected as the is the new chairman of the powerful County Public Accounts and Investments Committee – By Prudence Wanza.
Senator Ole Kina will be deputized by Murang’a Senator Kimani Wamatangi. Olekina, a fiery Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) senator beat Kisii Senator Sam Ongeri, garnering five votes to his rival’s four.
Ole Kina said that his first task as the CPAIC chairman will be to put the counties in order.
Among those who were proposed to be members of CPAIC are Senators Mithika Lithuri (Meru), Hargura Godana (Marsabit) Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu) and Millicent Omanga.
Others are Ochillo Ayacko (Migori) and Johnes Mwaruma of Taita Taveta.
Ledama Ole Kina will be replacing Senator Otieno Kajwang’.
The functions of The Select Committee on County Public Investments Committee are to-
- Examine the reports and accounts of the County public investments.
- Examine the reports, if any, of the Auditor General on the County public investments.
- Examine, in the context of the autonomy and efficiency of the County public investments, whether the affairs of the County public investments, are being managed in accordance with sound financial or business principles and prudent commercial practices.
