The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed the arrest of seven individuals in connection with violent disturbances at the Kariobangi North PCEA Church on Sunday, November 30.
The arrests, all carried out in the Lucky Summer area, mark a significant step in the investigation into the incident, which disrupted services and raised concerns over public safety in the area.
The suspects, now in police custody and awaiting court appearance, include Charles Otieno Opiyo, Wilson Okoth, also known as M.C. Otieno, Michael Mutunga Kavulunze, Brian Omondi Odhiambo, alias “Bryo,” Reggy Opiyo Otwole, Elisha Otieno Ochieng, and Gordon Odhiambo Onyango.
Police officials have indicated that further arrests are anticipated as investigations continue, including analyses of photographic and audio evidence collected from the scene.
In a statement, NPS Director of Corporate Communication Muchiri Nyaga urged the public to cooperate with authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.
“We beseech Kenyans to work collaboratively with the police for the good of all,” he said, adding that anyone with information about the incident should report to the nearest police station or contact law enforcement via toll-free numbers 999, 112, #FichuaKwaDCI (0800 722 203), or the WhatsApp line 0709 570 000.
The NPS reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring public safety.
“As a Service, we remain committed to ensuring that all forms of criminality are dealt with firmly within the confines of the law, while reiterating our steadfast commitment to the safety and security of all Kenyans and residents,” Nyaga added.
This comes after President William Rutoordered thorough investigations into the violence sponsored by politicians.
Rigathi Gachagua had accused the President of sponsoring the chaos and teargas melee that almost disrupted Sunday service.
