Several people are feared dead after an accident involving a matatu and a trailer at Kosachei area near Turbo along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
According to Ayub Gitonga, the Uasin Gishu police boss, a 14-seater matatu of Trippin Sacco was carrying an unknown number of passengers towards Webuye when it collided with a tipper that had suddenly stopped.
Shortly, another matatu of NNUS Sacco while heading towards Eldoret stopped at the left side of the road to rescue the victims.
It is during the evacuation exercise when a trailer heading to Webuye rammed onto the second NNUS Sacco matatu before overturning.
Two passengers aboard the Trippin Sacco matatu are feared dead, alongside another in the NNUS matatu, while several others have been seriously injured.
Victims have been rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment as efforts are underway to remove the vehicles.
according to Gitonga, more than ten people had been injured in the accident.
The accident has caused a major traffic jam on the highway.
