In the scheme that allows customers to get money from their Bonga points, Kenyan has mainly used the money to purchase food, household materials, and paying bills for utilities like the Internet.
The Bonga for Good scheme which under Bonga Points loyalty program allows customers to Customers will redeem 1 Bonga Point for 30 cents and has been effectively working at key merchants like Naivas, Tuskys, and Eastmatt.
The program which was started on April 3 has been of great help to Safaricom customers during this period where thousands have lost their sources of income.
It has also helped the company, which saw one billion points used up reduce its stock of the points that sit on its books as a liability.
Since the Bonga loyalty scheme was introduced in 2007, Kenyans have enjoyed great rewards on data bundles, airtime and devices for their loyalty.
The Bonga loyalty scheme allows enrolled customers to accumulate a point for every Sh10 spent on services on the Safaricom network.
