Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma is rapidly making a name for himself in European football, drawing attention from some of the continent’s most prominent clubs.
The 20-year-old playmaker, who recently penned a new contract with Swedish side IF Elfsborg, has caught the eye of English Championship side Sheffield United, eager to secure his services as the January transfer window approaches.
Ouma has emerged as a standout performer for Elfsborg, showcasing his talent with three goals and two assists across all competitions this season.
His standout appearances in high-stakes matches, particularly in the UEFA Europa League against renowned teams like AZ Alkmaar and AS Roma, have not only solidified his position in the first team but also attracted scouts from top clubs across Europe.
British journalist Alan Nixon revealed on Patreon that Sheffield United is keen to make a bid for Ouma once the Swedish season concludes, making them the latest club vying for the Kenyan’s signature, amidst growing interest from Premier League giants including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Brentford, as well as Championship rivals Luton Town.
Tottenham Hotspur, in particular, is reportedly leading the chase for Ouma, who is set to face them later this season. With Serie A clubs also rumored to be monitoring his progress, Ouma’s appeal spans multiple European leagues, indicating his rising stock in the footballing world.
Elfsborg, having signed Ouma in July 2022, appears to be open to offers, reportedly setting his price at around 7 million kronor (approximately Ksh81.8 million). The midfield dynamo’s ability to adjust and excel at the top level is evident; after initially transitioning through the U23 team, Ouma has successfully established himself as an essential cog in Elfsborg’s first team.
Sheffield United, currently competing for promotion and sitting near the top of the Championship table, could greatly benefit from Ouma’s arrival. His energy, creativity, and versatility in the midfield could provide the squad with much-needed depth as they set their sights on the Premier League.
