Siaya County passes BBI ammendment bill, 23 More to go

Siaya County is the first county assembly to pass the controversial Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill to facilitate BBI referendum – By Gerald Gekara.

In an overwhelming support for the bill, Siaya county MCAs said the bill meant good for the country and urged their counter parts to pass the bills.

The county speaker George Okode says public participation was conducted in all the 6 wards, through meetings, radio stations and door to door engagement.

The assembly is the first of 24 needed for the Bill proceed to the next step in the reform process.

This comes a day after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga told MCAs from the region that the BBI bill will help in uplifting the standards of living of Kenyans particularly the youth.
