The long-awaited Siaya County Stadium, which has been in the works for for two years, is nearly finished.
Jaoko Oburu, the County CEC in charge of Roads, Public Works, Public Transportation, Energy and Infrastructure, informed the citizens of Siaya that the work will be completed shortly.
The 20,000-seat capacity stadium in Siaya town, which is being built at a cost of Sh400 million and is being sponsored directly by the Siaya County government, is one of the county’s largest infrastructural development projects.
The stadium aims to improve sport tourism while also providing much-needed money to the Siaya County administration.
The expected completion date is set for September 2021.
The local contractor said the remaining works include the boundary wall, ground works, terraces and podium are done leaving only filling the field, roofing of the podium, planting of grass and civil works.
“We urge Kilifi residents to remain patient so that we can finish this project. Once it is done, we will have alot of activity in this stadium which will directly uplift the county residents.” Jaoko Oburu added.
