Siaya To Spend 12M In Swearing In Ceremony

Siaya County has allocated Ksh.12.5 million from its coffers towards the swearing in ceremony of its Governor-elect James Orengo and his deputy William Oduol slated to take place on Thursday.

According to Siaya County Secretary Joseph Ogutu the said amount will cover all preparation arrangements outlined by the Assumption of the Office of the Governor committee.

“The committee has been planning for their swearing in for about one month and today we are ready for the swearing-in ceremony,” Ogutu told journalists on Wednesday at KMTC grounds.

“The budget is quite modest if we look at the magnitude of the event.”

Ogutu further noted that guests and members of the public are expected to grace the event which will kick off at 9am.

He was flanked by Siaya County Commissioner Jim Njoka who assured all guests of their security should they choose to attend the ceremony.

“Some of the guests will be travelling, they will be sleeping here and tomorrow their security is guaranteed and everyone is welcomed to stay in Siaya County for the ceremony tomorrow and even after tomorrow,” said Njoka.
