‘Sick’ Jumwa Skips Murder Trial

Aisha Jumwa, the Malindi MP, did not appear in court on Tuesday in the continuing case in which she is accused of murdering a man in 2019.

Jumwa is sick, according to her lawyer Danstan Omari, and unable to travel to Mombasa.

“Ms. Jumwa isn’t feeling well. “Her physicians have instructed her to undergo five days of bed rest,” Omari told the court, requesting an adjournment to allow Jumwa to heal.

Jumwa’s illness claims, on the other hand, were dismissed by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who called them “an excuse to derail the trial.”

Instead, the DPP requested that an arrest warrant be issued for the MP.

High Court Judge Anne Ong’injo, for her part, requested signed and stamped papers to confirm Jumwa’s illness, which Jumwa’s team provided.

The judge approved the request for a continuance, but also required Jumwa to present a detailed medical report in court next month.

The matter will be heard on February 1.
