Singer Kevin Kioko alias Bahati, has joined the growing list of Kenyan celebrities who have now joined politics ahead of the August 9 general elections.
Bahati who was invited at the Jubilee Party’s headquarters on Friday formally declared his candidacy for the Mathare Member of Parliamentary (MP) seat under the party’s ticket.
“Mimi Mtoto Wa Mathare… I am a proud member of the Jubilee Party and the Azimio Movement. I am accepting the calling to vie for this seat.”
Bahati had earlier collaborated with ODM leader Raila Odinga on a song called “fire” before making his statement.
Bahati now joins Jackson Ngechu Makini, better known as Prezzo who is eyeing the Kasarani parliamentary seat, Mwanaisha Chidzuga who is vying for Matuga Parliamentary seat and DNG who is vying for the Kenyatta Golf Course Member of County Assembly seat.
He also joins former radio presenter Felix Oduor alias Jalang’o who is vying for the Langata parliamentary seat and comedian Mc Jesse who is vying for the Imenti South parliamentary seat.
