At least 15 people have killed in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Sunday morning after a suicide bomber exploded.
According to Captain Aden Omar, a soldier at the base, the suicide bomber disguised himself as a regular soldier and joined others as they filed into a military base early Sunday before detonating the explosive.
It was unclear who carried out the attack, but the Islamist group al Shabaab is known to carry out bombings and gun attacks in Somalia and elsewhere.
There have been a number of similar Al-Shabaab attacks in the area in recent years, all of which have targeted new military recruits, according to officials.
The incident occurs in the midst of successful operations in the Galgaduud, Hiiraan, and Bay regions.
According to government sources, over 20 people were seriously injured in the attack, and the victims were taken to various hospitals throughout the city.
