A two-day trade event aimed at strengthening economic ties between Kenya and Somalia is scheduled to begin on 12-13 February at Business Bay Square (BBS) Mall in Nairobi.
The Somalia-Kenya Trade Week seeks to enhance business cooperation, attract investment, and explore new opportunities between the two neighbouring countries.
The event, themed “Accelerating Cross-Border Trade and Investment for a Shared Prosperous Future”, is a partnership of Nation Media and the Embassy of Somalia and Kenya which invites stakeholders from all sectors.
In an advert seen by Uzalendo News, all stakeholders keen on building business relations and cross-border trade linkages have been invited.
“Join us to connect, collaborate and unlock new trade and investment opportunities,” it said.
The event will be attended by key government officials and business leaders from both nations.
Since Somalia joined the East African Community (EAC) in 2024, trade with Kenya has grown significantly, particularly in key sectors such as tea, livestock, and fish exports.
The inclusion of Somalia in the regional bloc has facilitated easier trade policies, increased cross-border investments, and enhanced market access for businesses in both countries.
