President of Somaliland, Musa Bibi Abdi, has today landed in the country for talks on mutual interests, as well as enhancing security in the Horn of Africa. – By Gerald Gekara.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is set to engage the Somaliland delegation, to foster Stronger relations with the country. The two principals will review anti-terrorism opolicies and agree on a framework for that will boost economic and social interactions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains that the trade in goods and services, as well as, investment with Somaliland has remained strong over the years.
Particularly, Kenya Airways will be seeking to secure a flight connecting Nairobi and Somaliland capital Hargeisa, in a bid to enhance trade and movement.
At the moment, Kenya has no embassy nor diplomat to the country.
The nation however has a Somaliland Liason Office is located at Office Muthangari Road. The staff is headed by Mr Amb Bashe A.Omar who is the Lead Representative of Somaliland in Kenya.
Earlier in 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta sent a High Profile Delegation to Hargeisa as a follow up to directives of establishing a diplomatic office in Somaliland.
The team included Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed and a number of MPs, George Muhoho (uncle to President Kenyatta) and his daughter Anne Nyokabi.
