Chelsea is investigating allegations of racist abuse aimed at Tottenham striker Son Heung-min at Stamford Bridge, threatening “strongest action.”
A member of the crowd allegedly abused the South Korean international during Sunday’s tense encounter, which ended 2-2.
Chelsea has already issued life bans to fans found guilty of similar behaviour.
As part of the club’s effort to eradicate abuse, the back of every seat at Stamford Bridge now bears instructions on how to report cases of abuse.
“Chelsea Football Club finds any form of discriminatory behaviour totally abhorrent. It has no place at Chelsea or in any of our communities,” said a Chelsea statement.
“Chelsea FC has consistently made its zero-tolerance position on discriminatory behaviour very clear, yet there are still idiots like this that attach themselves to this club as so-called ‘fans’, which shames Chelsea FC, our coaches, players, staff and our true supporters.
