Nikesh Harji, the father of three narrates the pain he has gone through in trying to take custody of his children who were taken by unknown people after his wife (Vanitah Nikesh) allegedly committed suicide in April 2022.
Nikesh was arrested in what seemed to be a conspiracy to cover up alleged murder.
However, the preliminary investigation confirmed that indeed the woman had taken her life. He was arraigned in court were the investigators sought an order to detain him.
However, after DCI officers completed their investigations, they informed the Court that they did not gather sufficient evidence to continue detaining Mr. Nikesh.
The court was satisfied that the offence of murder against Mr. Nikesh could not stand in any court of law, hence the court released him unconditionally and opened an inquest case before Kibra Law Courts to determine the cause of death of Vanitah.
On July 5, an unknown group of Indian nationals invaded his home at Langata Mandir Flats and started assaulting him together with his father who was completely vulnerable at the moment.
It was at this moment that the said mob took away his three children.
The oldest daughter aged 5 years and twin sons aged 5 months.
Ironically when Mr. Nikesh called police officers from Langata Police station for help, the officers arrested him together with his father immediately and accused them for creating disturbance and engaging in Child trafficking.
They were produced in Court 14 days later but the Court ordered the police officers to release them for lack of grounds to charge them.
Ever since the father of the three kids has never set his eye on them. “to date I don’t know who is having the custody of my three children that were forcefully taken away from my mother’s house” said Nikesh.
The father continues to lament that his efforts to get his children believed to be in custody of Nyali Sub-County Children’s home has been futile and as a result he is extremely shocked.
He also lives under constant fear after the untimely death of his wife as the community around his residence pose a lot of threats towards him.
