Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s assault slated for today has been moved to January 21, 2020, after he failed to show up at the Voi Law Courts.
According to his lawyers; Cecil Miller, Salim Mwadumbo, Jared Magolo, and George Kithi told the court that the Governor was recuperating at home following doctor’s orders.
The court then directed that Sonko be arraigned on January 21 and that he should represent himself at the DCI headquarters in Voi before appearing in court.
Sonko was expected to face three counts of including that of resisting police arrest.
He is accused of assaulting a police officer during his dramatic arrest in Voi. Sonko is alleged to have kicked the Coast Regional Police Commander Rashid Yakub on the thigh.
