Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has ordered all the Governors to pay pending bills failure to which legal action will be taken against them.
Matiang’i spoke outside the Harambee house after holding a meeting with fellow Cabinet Secretaries under the National Development implementation and Communication Committee.
The CS said that the government has already released the money to the counties to pay the pending bills adding that some governors have refused to pay because the bills were incurred during their predecessor’s tenure.
So far only 12 counties have cleared the bills and now the Treasury will employ all possible legal mechanisms to compel the governors to pay the bills.
Matiang’i spoke alongside Treasury CS Ukur Yattani, ICT CS Joe Mucheru and CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge.
