Sonko’s Child Support Case Dropped

A woman who had filed a child support case against ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has now withdrawn the case.
In an affidavit, the woman claimed that the case was fabricated by two Mombasa ladies. According to her, the two ladies approached her and offered her Ksh 1 million to smear Sonko’s name, who was running for Nairobi Governor at the time.
The woman also confirmed that the two ladies had given her a down payment of Ksh 240,000.
The woman wrote in court papers that, “I have since searched my soul on the matter, considered the suit against the defendant and I now wish to unconditionally withdraw both the chamber summons applications and the suit both dated 12th May 2022 and further wish to extend my unreserved apologies to the Plaintiff herein and to this Honorable court.”
The woman claimed in her application to the Kajiado court in May 2022 that she had a child with Sonko who at the time was in Form 2 and was asking for Ksh. 448, 450 per month in maintenance cost.
The money was intended to pay for living expenses like rent, security, clothing and housekeeping, entertainment, health insurance, education, transportation, and utilities.
The said lady had stated in court documents from the case filed at the Senior Principal Magistrate in Ngong that Mr. Sonko and her, are the biological parents of the minor herein and that Sonko had always been bold and defiant in his willingness to take responsibility in the upkeep of the minor.
Further, she stated that Sonko had purposefully withheld support for the minor’s maintenance all through. Hence depriving the minor her rights and causing the plaintiff assume all the responsibilities.
