South Africa’s Tiger Brands Appoints Polycarp Igathe As Chief Growth Officer

    Tiger Brands appointed former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe as Chief Growth Officer for the rest of Africa and Zayd Abrahams on Tuesday, November 22.

    Igathe was set to start his new job in South Africa on December 1, 2022.

    “I look forward to the diverse set of capabilities and knowledge of the continent that Polycarp will bring to driving the execution of our ambitious growth strategy for the Rest of Africa business and his broader contribution to the development and execution of the Tiger Brands business strategy,” a statement by the company read.

    This is Igathe’s second return to the South African marketing services firm.

    Prior to joining the British petroleum company Vivo Energy, Igathe was its Managing Director in East Africa.

    Tiger Brands Limited produces Fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

    The company primarily manufactures, markets, and distributes everyday branded food and beverages.

    It also exports grains, consumer goods, and home and personal care items.

    Igathe brings to Tiger Brands extensive commercial experience, sales and marketing, sales strategies, and business leadership.

    The politician has worked at Coca-Cola, Kenya Breweries, Haco Industries Limited, and Equity Bank, and has held multi-geography leadership roles across Africa.

    Igathe also served as Nairobi’s Deputy Governor before resigning to pursue a career in business.

    He ran for governor of Nairobi but lost to United Democratic Alliance candidate Johnson Sakaja.
