Speaker Wetangula Visits Iran Embassy To Give Condolences Following Death of President Ebrahim Raisi

    National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Wednesday visited the Embassy of Iran to express his sincere condolences to the people of Iran following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi and high-ranking officials in a tragic helicopter crash.
    According to Wetangula, he relieved memories of his interaction with the late President when he visited the Mausoleum of the founding Father of the nation, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta at Parliament buildings to lay a wreath.
    “I was received by Iranian Ambassador to Kenya H.E (Dr.) Ali Gholampour who expressed gratitude acknowledging the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the transition period with a further pledge to ensure that the caretaker government furthers relations Kenya has established with the republic of Iran,” he said.
    Acknowledging that Iran is in an extremely volatile region, Wetangula urged its leadership to maintain strength, stability and to focus its energies on empowering the general public.
    ‘I wished the Acting President and Acting Foreign Affairs Minister well as they steer the nation in this time of mourning,” he added.
    He was accompanied by a host of Members of the National Assembly including Hon. Farah Maalim (Daadab), Hon. Jhanda Zaheer (Nyaribari Chache), Hon. Ali Abdi (Ijara), Hon. Udgoon Siyad (Garissa) and Hon. Abubakar Ahmed Twalib (Nominated).
    Also Present was the Algeria Ambassador to Kenya Mr. Steve Apopo (DSO).
