Following a fire that burned a section of a two-story dormitory at St. Brigid’s Girls’ High School Kiminini in Trans Nzoia County Tuesday night, property of unknown value was lost.
The cause of the nocturnal fire has not been determined, according to Kiminini Deputy County Commissioner Henry Metto.
According to the administration, no pupils were wounded because they were all studying in their classrooms.
“Everyone is safe, including the girls. We will conduct investigations to determine the true cause of the fire. I want to reassure parents that their children, as well as the school, are safe,” Metto stated.
Inviolelata Lukorito, the principal of the Girls’ National School, said an evaluation would be conducted to ascertain the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
“As much as some of our girls lost their possessions, we’re glad that they’re all okay, and we’ll conduct an investigation into the incident,” Lukorito added.
Dr. Salome Maina, the Director of Education for Trans Nzoia County, encouraged the girls not to worry and to focus on their studies instead.
“As the County Department of Education, we are all behind you. “Forget about what happened in the past and concentrate on your studies so that your school can continue to be the County Center of Excellence,” Maina advised the girls.
