Police in Changamwe Mombasa County are investigating an incident in which a Form Four pupil snuck a tear gas canister into school.
According to Changamwe Deputy County Commissioner Michael Yator, the student at St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School went to school on Friday morning with the teargas canister.
The boy proceeded to play with the canister in the presence of other students before it detonated, wounding five students, including the one who had sneaked it into school.
The deputy commissioner said the learners sustained minor injuries and are receiving treatment at Bomu hospital.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing to establish where the student got the teargas.
