True fish is dying in lake Victoria Kenyan side. The dead fish has been analyzed according to the government and are not dying from poisoning.
The toxic chemicals that are now normally found in lake victoria fish due to the Lake’s pollution are not above normal.
The reason the lake fish are dying( mainly mbuta) is because of depleted oxygen levels in the lake due to rotting biomass at the bottom, a large portion being water hyacinth.
There is also a proliferation of algae due to pollution of the lake by sewage and fertilizer brought it by rivers originating from farming areas .
The algae use oxygen that further depletes it’s supply on the Lake’s water.
Fish dying in the lake has now become seasonal just like the water hyacinth and flooding as factors that make it happen are also seasonal and cyclic
