Supreme Court Okays Kananu Swearing In

A petition brought by Mike Sonko to prevent Deputy Governor Ann Kananu from being sworn in as Governor has been dismissed by the Supreme Court.

Sonko filed an appeal with the Supreme Court, which ordered the swearing-in to be postponed until October 26, 2021.

One of the reasons the case was dismissed by the Supreme Court was the absence of the Court of Appeal’s decision.

On Monday, October 25, Justice Mohamed Ibrahim, who heard the appeal, issued conservatory orders, postponing the planned swearing-in for 14 days.

The Court of Appeal gave the go-ahead for Kananu to be sworn in as the substantive Nairobi Governor on October 22, 2021.
