A suspect believed to be connected to the brutal killing of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer has been ordered to remain in police custody for 14 more days as detectives intensify investigations into the shocking incident that has rattled both the police force and the public.
The decision was made by a local court following a request by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), which argued that releasing the suspect could jeopardize the ongoing probe. Investigators cited the need to collect additional evidence, record statements from key witnesses, and potentially arrest other individuals believed to be linked to the murder.
The slain GSU officer, whose identity has not yet been officially released, was reportedly ambushed in a suspected targeted attack. Initial reports suggest the officer may have been lured to the location before being fatally attacked, although details remain scarce as police work to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.
The case has stirred strong emotions across the country, especially within security circles, with many officers calling for swift justice and tighter protections for law enforcement personnel, particularly those serving in specialized units like the GSU.
The suspect, who was arrested earlier this week in connection with the murder, appeared in court under tight security. Dressed in a hooded jacket and flanked by plainclothes officers, the suspect remained largely silent during the brief court session.
In their submission, police investigators requested two weeks to allow them to complete forensic analysis, recover possible weapons, and review surveillance footage from the crime scene and surrounding areas. The fallen officer was laid to rest in Kajiado County.
