Thika, Kenya Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended a man suspected of committing a string of grisly murders targeting young women in the area.
The suspect, identified as Samuel King’ara Kimani, was arrested on April 14 following intense investigations linking him to the brutal killings of two women whose bodies were found in coffee plantations under disturbing circumstances.
In the first case, 22-year-old Rosemary Njeri Ndekei had reportedly traveled to Thika Town to buy clothes but failed to return home. A day later, her lifeless body was discovered dumped in a coffee farm. Her family later identified her remains.
Just weeks later, 20-year-old Hellen Wambui Ndung’u met a similar fate. She had been sent to purchase foodstuffs on March 31 but was also found murdered in a coffee plantation. Investigators believe Kimani waylaid her along a deserted path before dragging her into the plantation, where she was attacked.
According to police, both crimes bear similar hallmarks, pointing to a calculated pattern of luring and assaulting victims in secluded areas.
The suspect is currently being held as detectives continue gathering evidence. A court order has been obtained to allow extended detention as authorities work to build a solid case against him.
Police are also urging any individuals who may have encountered similar attacks or suspicious activity in the area to come forward with information.
