Suspects detained after a botched SIM card fraud

Two suspects were today arraigned in Milimani law courts and charged with two accounts of Fraud. – By Meshack Makau.

Mr. Abdirahman Adan Hussein and Bare Mohamed Abdirahman were said to have conspired on unknown dates in the year 2020 and conspired to defraud Golden Gate Cargo Services Limited postpaid Safaricom sim cards numbers, by transferring them to their company Safe Gate Cargo Servicers Limited.

On October 13, 2020, according to the charge sheet, Mr. Bare Mohamed Abdirahman forged the signature of Abdullahi Sheikh Mohamed on a letter dated 13/10/2020 to Safaricom Limited requesting for the registration of postpaid services purporting it to be a genuine signature signed by Sheikh Mohamed the managing director Golden Gate Cargo Services.

On the other hand, Bare’s counterpart Mr. Abdirahman Adan Hussein was said to have on October 14, 2020 at Safaricom Eastleigh Retail Shop uttered to the attendant a forged letter requesting for authority to register postpaid services.

The letter was claimed to have been signed by Sheikh Mohamed the managing director Golden Gate Cargo Services.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku, the accused pleaded not guilty of the charges.

Through their lawyer, the suspects pleaded for lenient bond terms. The two will remain in custody awaiting a ruling on their bail application.
