Tala Manager ‘Looking For Love’ Conned Ksh. 9 Million By Ghanaian Witchdoctor

The directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested a Ghanaian national believed to have obtained Sh9 Million from a senior manager at a money lending agency.

The senior manager at Tala agencies, a popular mobile money lending firm, that advances instant short term loans to applicants, met the Ghanaian national Victor Anane, on an online dating site.

The Ghanaian represented himself as a miracle-working preacher who could instantaneously assist the senior manager be promoted at her workplace.

Furthermore, if she fell in love with him, he offered to assist her in turning her fortunes around. The lady was swept off her feet by the man’s advances and fell in love with him.

The two dated for a time, and as their love grew, the lady was invited to the man’s home at Athi River, Transview Estate.

But it is during her maiden visit to the self confessed preacher’s house, that she was shocked to find paraphernalia associated with witchcraft and magical rituals. What was meant to be a romantic date turned ugly, as the woman demanded to know how the man of the cloth she had fallen in love with, possessed paraphernalia associated with dark powers.

She had already handed her new boyfriend Sh9 million under mysterious circumstances at this point. Some of the money she is said to have handed him was collected through Tala agency accounts.

Detectives raided the suspect’s home, where they discovered witchcraft paraphernalia. Sh76,000 in fake cash and other materials used in the manufacture of phony notes were also discovered from his home.

The police also discovered that the suspect, who poses as a priest, approaches unsuspecting ladies yearning for love and affection online, promising to make their lives better before stealing money from them.

The suspect is presently in jail and will appear in court on allegations of getting money by deception.
