Tala traders vow to lynch rapist

Scores of enraged members of the public took to the streets in Tala town to protest against a prominent businessman who has been accused of defiling four school girls.

Led by Tala market chairlady, Ann Katile, the residents claimed the suspect, identified as Robert Mwai had gone into hiding after defiling school girls for the past one week.

The trader is also linked to a similar defilement incident meted on another minor last year, and whose case is alleged to have collapsed in court.

Addressing the demonstrators, Katile urged the police to arrest the suspect and ensure he is charged in court for defilement.

Matungulu sub county children’s officer Nathan Kyule confirmed the four minors, who are all aged between 15-16 have been admitted to a child rescue center after undergoing medical checkup at Kangundo level 4 hospital.

Tala OCS Samuel Nguyo said police were pursuing the suspect who has since gone into hiding.
