The Kenya Revenue Authority celebrates an increase in its collection, as the tax collector marks Tax Payers Day.

While addressing an event organized at Safari Park Hotel, KRA Chairman Amb. Francis Muthaura called upon Kenyans to support the government in achieving its development objectives by paying their taxes.

“We need to realize that no country can develop without the contribution of its citizens through taxes, that is why KRA has put more efforts towards improving voluntary compliance among taxpayers.” ~ Amb. Francis Muthaura, KRA Board chair.

In his address the Amb. Muthaura noted an increase in revenue collected to Ksh. 1.580 trillion collected as compared to 1.435 trillion collected in the previous year.

Speaking at the event, Labour and Social Security CS, Ukur Yatani called upon Kenyans to safeguard Kenya’s dignity, through paying their taxes.

“I thank the esteemed taxpayers who have stood with us in this journey, given the economic circumstances, by obediently discharging their civic and patriotic duty of paying taxes and safeguarding our dignity.” said Yatani.
