A tragic road accident in Mombasa County has claimed the life of a teacher and left several students injured. The incident occurred at the Maasai area along the Taita Taveta–Mombasa highway as a school group was returning from a cultural event.
The deceased, a teacher from Mikindani Primary School in Jomvu, was traveling with students who had participated in a music and drama competition at Kenyatta School in Voi, Taita Taveta County.
According to authorities, two students sustained serious injuries while ten others suffered minor injuries in the crash. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
Jomvu Member of Parliament Badi Twalib, who addressed concerned parents at Mikindani Comprehensive School, confirmed the tragic loss and injuries. He expressed deep sorrow over the teacher’s death, describing it as a heartbreaking incident for the school and the wider community.
“Our children had just represented us with pride in a cultural competition. It is heartbreaking to return with such tragic news,” said the MP. He pledged to work closely with the school administration and affected families to provide psychological support and other necessary assistance to those impacted.
Local officials and emergency responders have since been mobilized to ensure the injured receive proper medical care and that families are supported during this difficult time.
