Somalia officially cut diplomatic ties with Kenya in what the Horn of Africa state calls interference and violation of her territorial integrity. – By Gerald Gekara.
In a statement issued by the Somali Minister of Information Osman Dubbe, Kenya has constantly been involved in Somalia’s internal affairs and politics, a move that the minister said was intrusive and unacceptable.
Somalia earlier recalled all Somalia’s diplomatic staff back its capital Mogadishu and ordered all Kenyan diplomats to leave within 1 week.
Earlier on, President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted the visiting Somaliland delegation led by His Excellency Musa Bihi Abdi, President of Somaliland at State House, Nairobi.
During the meeting, the two leaders initiated discussions on a number of subjects of mutual interest between Kenya and Somaliland.
However, relations between Somalia and Somaliland have not been as good, since the country decided to sever its ties with Somalia.
