Sports Culture and Arts Cabinet Secretary Amb. Amina Mohammed appeared before the parliamentary committee to answer to the allegations that Kenya women’s netball team stranded in South Africa over uncleared bills.
In a heated debate with the sports committee, the ministry once again exposed the alleged misdoings and contradictory statements to the awe of the public.
Angered Webuye West Member of Parliament, Dan Wanyama, took out his frustrations to the Sports Minister, claiming that a cartel is running the sports ministry.
“That Ministry of Sports is just a cartel, you must be aware, and it is a cartel of swindling public money,” the enraged Webuye West Member of Parliament, Dan Wanyama, stated on behalf of the special committee.
“I want to say this without any fear of contradiction, that the head of cartels in your ministry is your PS,” the Webuye MP added.
In his defense, PS Kaberia said that when the sports ministry laid down plans to have the stadia built, he was working as an ambassador in Brazil.
The Webuye MP turned his heat to the Sports CS over reports that the national women’s netball team was stranded in South Africa. CS Amina Mohammed denied the reports, claiming that the ministry had tirelessly worked to have the team funded.
“It’s one thing to pay for the air ticket but another to take care of the athletes during the tournament. Did the state pay for the player’s accommodation?” Wanyama asked.
She however maintained that they had not recieved any report of the team being Stranded in South Africa.
