The Conviction of Garissa University Terrorism Attack Stands

The conviction followed an attack that led to the untimely death of 148 students at Garissa University.

The office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) through Director Noordin Haji has maintained that the conviction of the responsible terrorists in the Garissa University Terrorism attack was legal and in accordance with the Law.


The DPP through SPPC Duncan Ondimu said that Mohammed Abdi and Hassan Aden were rightly convicted of the terror attack in 2015.

The conviction followed an attack that led to the untimely death of 148 students at Garissa University.

An attack that the Country may never recover from without mentioning the families who lost their loved ones in the attack.


The two appellants were convicted alongside Charles Mberesero, a Tanzanian who was sentenced to life imprisonment with the two being imprisoned for 41 years.

The three were found guilty of the terror attack.


The two, aggrieved of the conviction, appealed the Judgement wanting the conviction and sentence set aside.

The hearing of the appeal is set for October 19, 2022, before Lady Justice Cecilia Githua.
