Kakamega: 20-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Killing Brother Over A Mattress

Police in Kakamega are detaining a 20-year-old woman, who allegedly stabbed her brother to death after a confrontation over a mattress went sour.

According to the family, Oscar Shioso, 24, had confiscated a mattress that his sister Margaret was supposed to use, resulting in a fight that led to his death.

Oscar’s wife, Catherine Chimanwa, told Citizen TV on Sunday that she confronted Margaret after the incident, who made light of the attack, claiming that the stab was not severe.

“I told her this is your brother and you could have just beat him up because a mattress costs only Sh 2000 but she said that she has not done much damage and the knife has not hurt him because he is still breathing,” Catherine said.

The family went on to say that the siblings had a long-running feud over a relationship between the 24-year-old and a police officer assigned to the Shiongo patrol base.

Oscar is said to have warned his sister about the relationship, causing resentment between the two.

The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Kakamega County morgue, while the suspect remains in custody to aid with the investigation.
