The Handshake Partners Were Partners In Crime! – UDA

Prsident Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has demanded that Azimio leader Raila Odinga come clean about the alleged Ksh15 billion that some of his supporters received in the months leading up to the August 2022 General Election.

In a statement published by the party On Wednesday, March 8, Secretary-General Cleophas Malala urged anti-graft authorities to launch investigations as soon as possible in light of the revelations made by Controller of Budget Mary Nyakang’o and to unearth the identities of all leaders implicated in the inquiry.

“The revelations by the controller of budget yesterday was extremely shocking, astonishing, inconceivable and simply depressing. Stealing over 15 billion Kenyan shillings in under 26 minutes just before the end of Uhuru’s tenure is deeply troubling. It is outrageous that these two so-called “handshake partners” were actually partners in crime!” said the UDA Sec. Gen.

The ruling party also sought an audit of all capital projects carried out by the previous regime led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Azimio led by Raila Odinga have planned protests tomorrow; but before they do so, they must come out clean on where they took the money. They must also show Kenyans where they hid the maize and when they are ready to release it.

“Kenyans are not giving in to the continuous theatrics that are meant to distract them from knowing the truth about the all-time loot that has messed the country,” the statement read in part.

While praising Nyakang’o for his exposé, SG Malala urged other state employees to come clean to the authorities if they were pressured into making any more transactions during the Uhuru regime.

“We demand that Raila and his friend take responsibility for their actions and repay the money they have stolen. We also ask Kenyans not to be hoodwinked and used by selfish leaders to advance their parochial egoistic interests,” he noted.

According to Malala, the inquiries should include both money kept in offshore accounts by leaders and tax evaders.

“The investigations should also not be limited to pilferage on public funds but the deliberate collapse of institutions, repatriation of looted money stashed on offshore accounts and suspicious tax exemptions by compromised officers at KRA.

“To crush impunity, we demand that investigations extend to those that misused public facilities, ordered extrajudicial killings, forced disappearances and wanton destruction of livelihoods through a weaponized criminal justice system,” Malala pointed out.

He added that all politicians who engaged in looting public funds should face the full force of the law.
