A stunning triptych mural was painted along Kenyatta Avenue in Nairobi on March 10.
The paintings featured artworks that prominently displayed the Kenyan and Ukrainian flags side by side.
This is the work of the ‘The Wall Project,’ which is made up of artists from various countries, including the two depicted in the art.
“The Wall symbolises resistance, stability, and armor that fences off Europe from the war,” read a statement from the Port website, a Ukrainian art agency.
The Wall has construction projects in Vienna, Austria, Marseille, France, Berlin, Germany, and, most recently, Nairobi, Kenya.
A triptych is a three-panel picture or artwork that was popular for altar paintings in the Middle Ages.
The panels are typically hinged together vertically.
This, however, is a triptych mural, which consists of three paintings covering the walls of three multi-story buildings that stand side by side.
One of the murals depicts an African hand representing Kenyans shaking the hand of a Caucasian representing Ukrainians.
It has a spear from Kenya’s coat of arms on the right side and a trident from Ukraine’s coat of arms on the left.
Such symbols are used in a joint project by Kenyan and Ukrainian artists to depict the friendly relationship between Kenyans and Ukrainians.
The Wall displays art as a protest against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022.
