The Weekend Boycotts Grammy Awards after Being Snubbed

As the music industry gets ready for the Grammy awards on Sunday the weekend made it clear that he doesn’t want to be part of music’s biggest night ever again. – By Stephanie Mwangi.

The Blinding Lights singer announced through a statement to the New York Times.

“I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammy’s “

Harvey Manson the president of the recording academy which oversees the Grammys told New York Times

“We are all disappointed when anyone is upset, but I will say that we are constantly evolving, and this year as in past years we are going to take a hard look at how to improve our award process including the nomination review committee.”

In 2015 the singer took home a Grammy award for the best RnB performance for ‘earned it’ and Best Urban Contemporary Album for ‘Beauty Behind Madness ‘and won another trophy for best urban contemporary album ‘star boy’.

On November 24th 2020 he tweeted “the Grammy’s are corrupted, you owe me my fans and the industry transparency.”

When he was asked about his tweet during an interview with Billboard magazine he said “it just kind of hit me out of nowhere, I definitely felt it, I felt things I don’t know if it was sadness or anger I think it was just confusion, I just wanted answers.”

But the weekend said that his feelings have since subsided, ‘I suck at giving speeches anyways, forget award shows.
