There Will Be Fire If I Speak — Klopp-Salah Stand Off Ignites Tension

Mohamed Salah destroyed Jurgen Klopp’s attempts to downplay their touchline exchange at West Ham, claiming there would be “fire” if he stopped to talk after the 2-2 draw.

The Reds were desperate to rebound after a humiliating midweek setback in the Merseyside derby, so Klopp benched Salah in an attempt to spark his tired team into action.

While they led 2-1 midway through the second half at London Stadium, Michail Antonio effectively ruined their slim Premier League title chances when he headed home an equalizer for West Ham with 13 minutes remaining.

Salah had been waiting to come on before Antonio’s goal and was involved in an animated conversation with Klopp.

It concluded with fellow replacement Darwin Nunez having to shove teammate Salah aside before entering the fray, but they were unable to produce a late winner in the capital.

“We spoke about it in the dressing room and that is done for me,” Klopp went on to say.

When asked if Salah was okay with it, Klopp responded: “That was my impression.”

However, when Salah was ordered to cease walking into West Ham’s mixed zone, he stated, “There’s gonna be a fire today if I speak.”
