Kenya’s Industrial Revolution: Ksh 63.3M Project To Kick Off

Dr. Juma Mukhwana, the State Department for Industry Principal Secretary (PS) of Kenya, has praised the progress made in the implementation of Third Industrial Development Decade for Africa.

More than 250 projects totalling US$63.3 million are scheduled to begin in 2022.

The Integrated Agro-Industrial Park (IAIP) project in Nyamira County, the Self-Starter PCP anchor project, has been incorporated into the Self-Starter PCP.

The Kenyan government has also allocated significant financial resources for the establishment of County Aggregation and Industrial Parks across all of its 47 counties.

This will increase farmer incomes and ensure that all devolved counties actively participate in the national industrialization agenda.

Kenya is committed to the industrialisation plan, which includes targeted Agro-Value-Chain growth, SEZ establishment, and digitization.

To guarantee widespread inclusive and sustainable development, the Principal Secretary has asked UNIDO to expand the PCP and CP projects to other African nations upon request.

Kenya is pleased with the Director General’s collaborative and consultative approach to developing the UNIDO plan for Africa 2023-2025.

Dr. Mukhwana has also urged UNIDO to link IDDA III deliverables with those of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), emphasizing the significance of a fully formed and operational IDDA III Secretariat.
