The third suspect in the slaying of businessman George Mwangi Kamau has been detained at Karinga in GatunduSouth. His name is John Muikiriria Mwangi.

As a result of the cold-blooded murder, three people have now been detained.

Detectives from the Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau, Homicide department, Forensic Crime Scene and Photographic sections came to the conclusion that George Mwangi was murdered in his home before his body was placed at Kieni forest after thoroughly documenting the deceased’s residence in Mang’u.

Pieces of blood-stained metal rods, blood-soaked bed linens, damaged clothing, and stained drapes were among the exhibits that the sleuths from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory were able to gather from the premises.

Following further investigations by detectives from the homicide unit, who took over the case’s investigation, the arrest was made.

The second accused, Morris Kamau Mbugua, hired by the primary suspect, Gladys Njeri Mwangi Alias Chania, on October 8, 2022, a day before the deceased’s death and disappearance, and John Muikiriria Mwangi went missing on the same day. This, according to the seasoned detectives, was a case of too much coincidence.

John Mwangi, a four-year employee at the facility, allegedly failed to come home after Chania sent him to make a Mpesadeposit, according to Chania. The main suspect Gladys Chania and Morris Kamau Mbugua, who were charged on November 2, 2022, at Kiambu law courts, were the subjects of a prima facie case that had been made against them.

The third suspect will be charged today at the Kiambu law courts.
