Three Aimi Ma Lukenya Officials Arraigned In Court Over Disputed Portland Land

Three Aimi Ma Lukenya Society officials have been arraigned in Court over the disputed East African Portland case in Mavoko, Machakos County with the prosecution seeking 30 days detention order.

The Prosecution requested the court to issue orders allowing DCI to detain the three officials, Julius Mutua, Pascal Kiseli, and Alex Kyalo Mutemi to allow further investigations.

According to the prosecution, the three are being investigated over conspiracy to defraud and obtain money by false pretenses.

The court heard that the complainant in the case is the Managing Director of East African Portland and that there are verifications that have to be done.

On the other hand, the defence urged the court to dismiss the application saying that the suspects are not flight risk adding that they are leaders of a society.

According to the three, the matter has been alive since 2014 and they are willing to cooperate.

They will remain in custody until Wednesday when the court is expected to issue a ruling on whether they will be detained pending charging or not.
