Police in Matungu, Kakamega County, have arrested three suspects in connection with the transportation of illicit alcohol.
The suspects two women and their male driver were intercepted while ferrying about 100 litres of chang’aa in a saloon car. Officers impounded both the vehicle and the illicit brew as evidence.
Authorities confirmed that the three are being held in custody and will be arraigned in court.
The operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the production and distribution of illegal brews in the region.
In a statement, the National Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting the public from the dangers posed by illicit alcohol, noting its severe health and social impacts.
